Every book ordered directly from The Hero Soul is a little bit special.

Signed editions are personally handled and signed by Richard Lister before being carefully packaged for their journey to you.

Whether you're joining Brandr and his crew for the first time or returning for another adventure, I want your books to arrive safely and in excellent condition.

UK Shipping

We aim to prepare and dispatch in-stock signed books within 3–5 working days of receiving your order.

Delivery times depend on your location and the postal service used. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

Once your order has been dispatched, we'll email you to confirm that it's on its way, along with tracking information where available.

International Shipping

We welcome readers from around the world.

International delivery times vary depending on your country, postal services and customs processing.

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout where international delivery is available.

If your country isn't listed, please contact us before ordering.

Tracking & Delays

Where tracking is provided, you'll receive the details by email.

If your parcel appears to be delayed, hasn't arrived when expected, or your tracking hasn't updated for several days, please get in touch. We'll do our best to help.

Taxes, VAT & Customs Duties

The Hero Soul is based in the United Kingdom.

Orders sent outside the UK may be subject to import VAT, customs duties, handling fees and other charges imposed by the destination country.

Unless explicitly stated at checkout, these charges are not included in your purchase price or shipping fee.

Your local customs authority or delivery provider may request payment before delivering your parcel.

European Union Shipping & New Customs Charges

Important information for our European readers.

The European Union has introduced new customs charges affecting goods shipped from outside the EU, including books ordered from independent UK businesses such as The Hero Soul.

From 1 July 2026, a customs duty of €3 applies per applicable customs tariff classification (HS code) to qualifying business-to-consumer shipments valued at €150 or less.

From 1 November 2026, an additional EU handling fee of €2 per applicable HS code is expected to apply, subject to final ratification.

This means a qualifying order containing one type of book may incur:

• €3 customs duty

• €2 EU handling fee from 1 November 2026

• Any applicable import VAT

• Any additional local postal or customs processing charges

These charges may be payable in addition to the cost of your books and postage.

Who Pays These Charges?

Depending on the delivery service used, customs charges may be collected when your order is sent or by your local postal service before delivery.

If applicable charges have not been collected at checkout, you may be contacted to make payment before receiving your parcel.

We aim to make any charges collected by The Hero Soul clear during checkout.

Ordering More Than One Book

EU customs charges are based on the applicable customs classifications of the goods in your parcel, rather than simply the number of books.

For example, multiple copies of the same type of book may fall under a single customs classification. Orders containing different types of products, such as books and merchandise, may attract charges for more than one classification.

The final amount depends on the customs declaration and the regulations in effect when your order is imported.

Additional EU Customs Requirements

From 1 November 2026, EU-bound goods must also include additional product identification information for customs purposes.

The Hero Soul will provide the required product details when preparing shipments. You won't normally need to supply this information yourself.

Shipping to Italy

Italy introduced an additional customs administration fee of €2 for qualifying shipments valued below €150 from outside the EU on 1 October 2026.

This fee is currently collected from recipients and may apply in addition to other customs charges.

Why Are These Charges Being Introduced?

These changes form part of wider EU customs reforms affecting goods purchased from businesses outside the European Union.

They are not charges created by The Hero Soul, and we do not receive any money from customs duties or fees paid directly to customs authorities or delivery providers.

We know unexpected charges are frustrating, so we want you to understand them before ordering.

Shipping to the United States

A note for our American readers.

US import regulations and tariffs have changed in recent years, and charges can differ between books, clothing, prints and other merchandise.

Printed books may receive different customs treatment from other products.

Any applicable tariffs, taxes and carrier processing fees will depend on the regulations in force when your order enters the United States.

Unless explicitly included at checkout, additional customs charges may apply.

We recommend checking the final order details and current US customs requirements before purchasing.

We want the only surprise in your order to be what happens in the story.

Signed Editions & Special Orders

Some editions are signed, personalised or prepared especially for you.

These may take a little longer to dispatch, particularly around launches, special promotions and busy periods.

If an item is a pre-order, its anticipated dispatch date will be shown on the product page.

If your order contains both available and pre-order items, we may send everything together when the complete order is ready.

Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Orders

Your books should arrive ready to enjoy, not looking as though they've survived a Viking raid.

If something arrives damaged, an item is missing, or we've sent you the wrong book, please contact us as soon as possible.

Include your order number, a brief description of the problem and photographs where helpful.

We'll work with you to resolve the issue in accordance with your consumer rights.
